    I'm making archival copies of dvds.

    What you don't know.

    I found out that to "rip" dvds and save a complete disc image (ISO) requires around 10 gigabytes per disk, sometimes as much as 16 gigabytes per disc.

    Hmmmm. I don't have anywhere close to enough hard drive storage capacity. And I have around 3 Terabytes total.
